Duplex Apartment in the most prestigious area of Paris : the Saint Louis Island, next to Notre Dame.
LOCATION
In the heart of Paris and near the Cite island, the small Ile Saint-Louis (Saint-Louis island) is one of the loveliest districts of Paris.
A veritable haven of peace in the heart of the capital, the island Saint Louis has remained almost intouched since its renaissance at the beginning of the 17th century. Noted for its exceptionnal beauty and tranquility, Saint Louis is where native Parisians go in order to escape the noise and the stress of the city. It thus offers an ideal starting point to discover the charms of historical Paris and romantic strolls along the banks of the Seine.
Walk from Notre-Dame to the Ile Saint-Louis through the garden at the back of Notre-Dame. The island is best accessed from the Cité island on foot. Look for Bertillon, the best French ice-cream maker, at 31 rue Saint-Louis.
The closest metro station to the Ile Saint-Louis are Saint-Paul, Cité and Pont Marie (less than 10 minutes walk).

Just returned to Oz after 8 weeks in Europe. We booked this apt on Rue le Regrattier some months ago but when we got there on 31st Oct (2010), Giancarlo was waiting for us with some bad news. A plumbing problem and a long bank weekend meant that we could not move in for our full 5 nights. Giancarlo spent two days trying to get the problem fixed while moving us between his other apartments, one of which meant carrying our bulging suitcases up 5 flights of stairs! Amongst all this, he also had to keep up with his commitments at the hospital! Poor guy! We finally got in and spend 3 lovely days on the Isle St Louis. In all, we sampled 3 different apartments in our five days but even with the inconvenience, we very much appreciated our lovely host who went out of his way to make up for the extra hassle. It would have been much easier for him to put a "sorry but apartment now not available" sign on the door and left us stranded.
For anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in Paris, close to Rue St Germain, the Latin Quarter, Notre Dame and right in the middle of the Seine, this apartment is ideal as is the smaller apartment on the Place Dauphin where we spent one night.
Thank you Giancarlo for your help and consideration to two 'no longer spring chickens' especially when it came to the 5 flights of stairs in the first apt! Hope you find a good agent to help you soon - or at least a lovely wife to do some of that running around for you! God Bless

We stayed in this beautiful apartment over 1 year ago, and it was only when I was strongly recommending it to my friends I have revisited this site and felt guilty that I hadn't made an entry at the time for it was just the best place to stay. We felt so French, my husband daughter and self. We have stayed on the island before and will only stay there from now on, simply the best location, and this apartment if still available after all the deservedly wonderful things said would be our first choice. We stayed in January 2008, we love winter in Paris, and walked everywhere from our apartment, at night came home, sat over a bottle of wine and cheese bought from the shops 2 mins away, relaxed and planned our next day. Perfect.

Your concern and warm attention to our wellbeing is
something we will never forget. As you know, we have traveled and enjoyed Paris
over 20 times as ardent tourists during the past 25 years. In all that time
no fine Parisian hotels or rental apartment managers has paid such caring
attention as you have shown to our comfort and needs.
This two week visit to Paris was special
because of your attentive warmth plus the eycatching surroundings of the Ile
St-Louis and the River Seine to enjoy each time we went outside. Add to that the
elegance of your newly refurbished and outfitted apartment along with
comfortable furnishings. You made the three of us, my wife,my 16 yr.
old grandaughter and me feel like extra special guests.
Your special doctoral care and help with my need to
carefully attend to my medical condition was a miracle for me. I cannot
compensate you enough for your sacrifice of time. Relinquishing your
own rest and adding to that the letter you developed to help me on the
plane..... I cannot help thinking of you as a special saint. You are certainly a
special person who had entered our lives and helped us while we were in
need.
Giancarlo, please make it a point, the next time
you are the States.....stop in to see and stay with us in our home. Be sure to
call us at least and if possible we could meet you somewhere here in Florida. We
will be in New York city the first week in December!
